Samaritans provide confidential emotional support for people who are experiencing feelings of distress or despair, including those which could lead to suicide. However, many of our calls are not about suicide, they are from people who feel upset or confused and just want to talk to someone.
Nationally, Samaritans volunteers provide emotional support, 24 hours of every day, 365 days a year. In Wolverhampton a team of over 60 volunteers is currently undertaking this work. We receive around 2,000 contacts per month but this number can increase considerably at various times of the year.
The branch relies on fundraising by volunteers and on donations and it costs about £30,000 a year to keep our services running in Wolverhampton.
Samaritans can be contacted by telephone 01902 426422 (or call free on 116 123) or by email, letter or visit us at our branch at 54 Newhampton Road West, Wolverhampton WV6 0RU. Full details are available on our website: www.samaritans.org.uk
